Dude, that's a sweet first car. I'm still dreaming about getting one someday, and I've had about 2 dozen cars lol.

Don't do it! That thing was cool to seventeen year old me but you couldn't pay me to drive another one.

The day of purchase:

Now, well not today because I just came inside and am too lazy to go back outside:

Basically the same, just is in even more need of a paint job.

Really? How come? I'm wanting to get an older one (70's to early 90's) and use it for off-roading. Room for the whole family, but a heck of a lot cheaper than a 4-seat side-by-side.

Well if it's just for offroading, then you'll probably be alright...mine was a DD, and the lack of comfort combined with the horrid reliability (to the tune of two engine replacements, 3 transmissions, and 3 clutches between me and two other owners in an 8 year period, a/c that never worked, and wiring that would give an electrician nightmares) really killed it for me. Mine was a '00.

Nice, I always wanted a 4Runner while I had my Jeep

I love mine, though it's a bit... slow.

Whoah, what engine was that? I had no idea Jeeps were having that much trouble that recently. In the '80s, the 2.8L was a piece, but after they switched to the 4.0, I thought Jeep pretty well had their act together.

Oh the 4.0 is great, I wished I had it many times, although that wouldn't have solved the tranny + clutch problems, it would have been less to worry about. No I had the Chrysler special 2.5. God I hated that motor.

Ahh, that explains a little lol. I had a '98 Dakota with that engine. It was fun to drive until it left me stranded 150 miles from home in the dead of winter, after losing compression.
